David P. Hintz is the Corporate Quality Assurance Manager at Morrison Construction Company, bringing more than 37 years of experience in the welding industry and 28 years of service with Pipefitters Local 597. His career has been deeply rooted in specialty materials and advanced welding processes, supported by a strong foundation in the Local 597 apprenticeship program and extensive instructor training through the United Association.

At Morrison Construction, David progressed through roles as a pipefitter, welder, foreman, and quality control professional before assuming his current leadership position. He is responsible for directing and maintaining comprehensive quality assurance and quality control programs that meet stringent code and industry standards across the power, petrochemical, steel, manufacturing, and fabrication sectors. His work includes managing welding procedures and qualifications (WPS/PQRs), overseeing welder certifications and continuity, and supporting nondestructive examination (NDE) processes.

Earlier in his career, David gained significant field experience with Amex Construction, where he built a strong reputation for welding excellence, including high‑profile turnaround work with zero failure rates. He has also made a lasting impact as an educator. At the Pipefitters Local 597 Training Center, he served as a welding instructor and later as welding director, leading training programs, managing large‑scale welder testing events, and maintaining certifications for more than 7,000 pipefitters. In addition, he has taught specialized courses in corrosion‑resistant alloys, CWI preparation, and UA Authorized Testing Representative programs nationwide.

David holds multiple certifications, including AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), and is qualified under major industry codes such as API 1104, ASME B31.1, B31.3, and AWS D1.1. He has also completed National Board “R” Stamp training and holds certifications in multiple welding processes, along with OSHA safety training.

Throughout his career, David has demonstrated a strong commitment to quality, safety, and workforce development, earning him respect as a leader in both field and training environments.
